Interview Questions and Answers

Question 1

Q: What are your strengths?

A: I take great pride in my determination. When I have a goal in mind, there is little to nothing stopping me from achieving it. Even from the age of four, I have always been very driven. At that age, I had decided that I wanted to learn the 'grown up' way of tying my shoes, which did not involve bunny ears. It took me an entire day to figure it out, but I would not come out of my room until I knew how to properly tie my shoes. This determination would be extremely beneficial in the work force because I would never give up on a challenging task until done correctly.

Question 3

Q: Tell me about a time where you made a mistake

A: I made the mistake of not asking for help. When starting my new job, there was a lot of new information to take in. Therefore, there were certain areas I was unsure of. This resulted in me having to relearn some areas of my position. I now know that it is better to ask again for clarification than to be unsure. I know that companies value teamwork and emphasize communication.

Question 5

Q: How do you handle pressure/ stress?

A: In the work environment, I believe that a bit of stress pushes me to become my best self. Like an underdog, I rise to the occasion and take on any difficult challenges that might come my way. A bit of pressure is good, and it makes me work swiftly and efficiently. Now, too much pressure can be very stressful on a person, but I do my best to not let situations become too overwhelming.

Question 7

Q: How would you like to be challenged by a job?

A: When it comes to being challenged, I do more by setting goals for myself. I love it even more when a manager sets goals for their workers, especially if they are attainable. Due to my competitive side, this goal setting pushes me to be the best worker possible. I believe that when I am driven to achieve something, my best work shows.

Question 9

Q: Tell me about an accomplishment you are most proud of

A: My greatest accomplishment is getting accepted into college. The schools that accepted me are top rated, and I would be proud to attend any of them. Getting accepted was a milestone moment. The letters justified all of the hard work and dedication that I had put in for the past fours years. They said, "good job" and "it was worth it". All of the stress, tears, and late nights had been worth it because I now know that my future is going to be bright.

Question 2

Q: What is the difference between good and exceptional?

A: The difference between good and exceptional is subjective to each individual. However, for me it is dependent on the feeling I get after completing the work. After finishing a project I deem as exceptional, I feel a sense of pride. I would gladly write my name on the piece and show it off. Then, for good work it's just that. Good. It just gets the job done. There is no sense of accomplishment that comes with finishing it.

Question 4

Q: Who do you look up to?

A: Although it is a bit cliche, the person I look up to the most is my mom. She has inspired me to be an independent and strong person because of all the hardships she has endured. My mom has even moved across seas as a single mother with her entire family. That experience I gained from here is something I will never forget. My mother has made me into the person I am, and I am extremely grateful for it.

Question 6

Q: What kind of work do you enjoy the most?

A: I enjoy a lot of hands on work. Leaping into action is what I love to do at any job. When it comes to school, or working in general, I like getting involved. This kind of work always keeps me on my toes and excited for the next thing to come. As a whole, I enjoy being up close to the action and not sitting back while others handle it.

Question 8

Q: What makes you uncomfortable?

A: It makes me uncomfortable when people treat others with disrespect due to an underlying bias. Today, there are many sensitive issues that include race, gender, and sexuality. When people use condescending or disrespectful tones to others that fall within the category of being different, it makes me extremely uncomfortable. The lack of self awareness that a person who acts like that is astonishing, and I would not enjoy being in their company for large periods of time.

Question 10

Q: What are your weaknesses?

A: I have a hard time letting go of projects that I work hard on. Especially in a group setting when it is my job to complete one task, and their job is finish the rest. It is difficult for me to pass on all of my hard work to them. After spending so much time and energy on something, it is hard to let go and let someone else work on it as well. This is my greatest weakness because I then feel like I should go back and edit their work instead of trusting that they put in as much effort as I did.
